CHAIRMANfS MESSAGE
The Japanese School in Singapore, which was established more than three decades ago, is now one of the largest schools in South East Asia in terms of student population. Amongst the two Primary schools and the Secondary school, we have a combined student population of approximately 2,440. Although this figure represents a slight decrease in the number of students due to the economic down turn, our schools have nevertheless consistently maintained good reputation and high academic standards. This is possible because we have a pool of good, talented and dedicated teachers to instruct and guide our students. We realize that the contemporary world is ever changing and presenting new challenges, and we in the education business must always be vigilant in keeping up with these changes so as to equip our students as well as to meet these challenges. With this objective in mind, our School Committee has established close-working ties with the teachers to implement challenging curriculum in order to meet international standards, while making proper decisions at appropriate times to meet the needs of the contemporary world.
We also appreciate the efforts of the parents for their support and constant co-operation with the school in the education of their children. A complete and wholesome education involves both the School and parents working hand-in-hand to provide various opportunities for our students to develop and excel.

At this juncture, I wish to express my deep appreciation to the Singapore Government, the Japanese Government, the Singaporean community and the Japanese community in Singapore for their help in various areas of needs, and also to all those who have helped in one way or another in the running of the Japanese School. In closing, I urge all students to put in their best effort in their studies, and all teachers and parents to do their utmost to nurture the present generation of children into good outstanding citizens of the next millennium.
